"Be it here now resolved: To try something new or novel"
The newspaper is here for us to read, key people were able to drive to the plant where it is printed, and the presses worked.
Since the rest of us are relaxed enough to have the notion to read the paper, apparently nothing too terrible happened when the gong struck midnight two days ago.
Of course, we all knew that was the way it was going to be. None of us was worried. We needed all the water and canned food stored in our garages. We were collecting it for the food bank to deliver right after the new year.
So since all is well—before the day is out, before the first workweek of the millenium begins, just after we eat our bowl of black-eyed peas, we can make our list of new millenium resolutions.
They should be different. They should be long-term, bold, original -- striking out into new territory. No one should be able to recognize them as ours —- especially our family.
